As bellydancers, we are blessed with the availability of various props. The trick is learning how to use them as organic extensions of our dancing selves, and not mere inanimate additions. The Jahara Phoenix Dance Company can draw on years of experience with props to help you master these elegant "dance partners" and add a new level of expression to your movement.
Stick dancing - raks assaya - owns a significant standing in the history of our dance form. This workshop will focus on how to successfully integrate this most dynamic addition into your dancework, while utilizing a beautiful prop too seldom seen in bellydance performance.
Sensual swordwork is sure to excite your audience, as engaging an addition to your performance as any. In this class, participants will learn how to build suspense and manage your sword as a dance partner, not a prop.
